Stegman’s Old Boys are heading to Milwaukee!
The Northern Brewer Border Battle will see the Minneapolis side face off in a friendly match against four-time National Amateur Cup and two-time National Open Cup champions Milwaukee Bavarians on July 28th at 2:00pm.
“Bavarians are probably the most famous club in amateur soccer” said Stegman’s Old Boys Club Chairman Dan Hoedeman “so we are chuffed to be playing against them. I want to thank the club and Tom Zaiss for the invitation. It is going to be a fantastic event.”
Northern Brewer, a club sponsor of the Old Boys, will be providing a trophy that will be kept at the home field of the winner.
“Bavarians have a history of winning silverware” said Hoedeman “but we are hopeful that we will be driving it back to Minneapolis. We will have a large contingent of our MASL side with some other players sprinkled in. It’s a friendly, but we’ll play hard.”
There are a number of fans making the trip from Minneapolis, and there are certain to be more than a few from Milwaukee who will be at the Bavarian Club to watch the game.
“There are a lot of Bisswurm’s in the world” said Jon Bisswurm “and I expect them to be at the game.”
Admission is free and so is the Surly, so come out to the Bavarian Soccer Club in Milwaukee on July 28 at 2:00pm to cheer on the Blues. And we’ll see you at Germanfest afterward. Because it’s not an SOB weekend without some lederhosen.
