Stegman’s Old Boys FC open the summer MRSL season this Sunday at 6:30pm at Maetzold Field in Hopkins, and Surly Brewing Company wants you there.
It should prove to be an exciting game as the Blues entertain BEEF United, a club that they helped to relegate with 3-0 and 4-1 victories in 2010, the 4-1 result being the one that doomed United to the old Third Division.
“Those were a couple of chippy games” said Club Chairman Dan Hoedeman “which was surprising considering the scoreline each match, but perhaps United were just sad and being relegated. I can only imagine, I have no clue what that must feel like.”
The Old Boys are coming into this match on the back of an encouraging 1-1 draw with Real St Croix in the SOB Cup.
Nathan Proft showed his quality while making his debut in the SOB Cup and the Blues will look to him to generate some offense for the always-dangerous Luke Clayton and the slippery Graham Campbell.
“There were a number of players to be integrated” said Vice Captain Derric Johnson “and I think that affected us in the Cup, but it’s league time now and we’re ready to go.”
The match kicks off at 6:30pm at Maetzold Field in Hopkins.
