Stegman’s Old Boys FC will play their first regular season game at Blake Field on Sunday May 15. The first competitive fixture for the Blues at their new home, it is sure to be an historic occasion.
The 2011 MRSL schedule will be officially unveiled on April 2 and will reveal the opponent that both Stegman’s Old Boys, who kick off at 7:00pm, and Stegman’s Other Boys, who play the earlier match that kicks off at 5:00pm, will face in their inaugural match at Blake Field.
“Our passionate support is certain to replicate and improve upon the atmosphere at Arlington Park in our new home” said Club Chairman Dan Hoedeman. “I have no doubt that the supporters will be in full voice for our opener, further reinforcing our position as the best supported club in the league.”
The Blues open the season with a two-game road trip before the home opener on May 15 and remain home the next Sunday May 22. A three-game summer homestand is already being hotly anticipated, with June 12, June 19 and June 26 matchdays at Blake Field. Other home dates include June 26, July 10 and the final day of the regular season, August 14.
“Last season we had a long home stretch to open the season” said Manager Jon Bisswurm “and that certainly positively affected our early season play but, coupled with the injuries we suffered, made the end of the season a struggle. There’s no place like home, truly. With more balance in the schedule this season, I think that we will be an even tougher foe to face. We’ll be like a Adonis tiger on steroids with a bulletproof vest. And an axe.”
Look for the official schedule to be announced on April 2.
