The loss of the club captain was a big blow for the Old Boys, not only given the ongoing injury issues the team has faced since the season’s midpoint but also because Jon Bisswurm had been so integral to the side’s success. Yet, after four weeks out with a hairline fracture in the ankle, Bisswurm is saying that he is ready to return.
“The ankle is sore” said Bisswurm on Thursday “but some paid meds, some ice, some adrenaline and my typical German stolidity, I will be able to go on Sunday.”
The captain has a goal and three assists in nine games so far this term, all the most impressive considering that his move to the sweeper role midway through the season did not negate his offensive impact while bringing an added level of organization to the defense.
“My old coaches at Kaiserslautern would fly here and beat me, both verbally and physically, if I weren’t able to organize a defense” Bisswurm said, “my only wish is that they did so and brought the pain pills they used to give me. Those things were amazing. They are better than finding the Lakers girls topless in my FIFA Lab.”
